Imagine your perfect Hawaiian beach experience, one with white sand, turquoise blue water, whispering palms ...with restrooms and showers. Now imagine that same scene without the crush of visitors. Well, we’ve found it and decided to reluctantly share it with you.

Nobody knows about this place, so keep it our little secret. If you are looking for a secluded family-friendly beach close to Kailua-Kona, then Kikaua Point Beach is it.  Within the confines of the Kuki`o Golf Resort, this small beach features soft white sand that gently slopes into the usually calm waters of a protected inlet. Combine that with comfort facilities, a grassy area and shade trees and you’ve got the perfect place to relax and enjoy the day.

As you enter the Kuki`o Golf Resort property tell the guard at the gate house that you would like public access to the beach. Parking is limited to 27 cars, so be sure to arrive early. A five minute walk along a paved trail leads from the parking lot to the beach. At the end of the path you will find showers, restrooms, and drinking water.  This beach is wheelchair and baby stroller accessible. Although there is plenty of natural shade, you may want to bring a beach umbrella

You will not be allowed in if the lot is full. If that’s the case, return to Rte. 19 and drive north one half mile to Kuki`o Beach at the Four Seasons Resort.

  1. Be Sun Safe

  2. The tropical sun can be brutal. Even in the shade of a beach umbrella, reflected sunlight can burn unprotected skin. You wouldn’t want to spoil your vacation on the first day, so we advise that you wear waterproof sunblock (SPF 50 is appropriate for most beach activities) and reapply it at least once during your time at the beach. Be sure to sunscreen the tops of your feet and the tops of your ears.
